As soon as you click on EDIT at the top of your page, a tool bar, similar to word documents will be there. Here are all the tools you'll need to make your pages look good!
The first thing to do is to decide whether or not you want a TABLE to split your page into rows and columns. If you want pictures on one side of the page and text on another for example, a table is an easy way to achieve this.
To add a TABLE: just click on Table on your tool bar, and choose how many columns and rows you want. HINT: you can always add more later. Then press INSERT TABLE
Below is an example of a table with just 2 rows and 2 columns:
. Here is one of my favorite chapter books: Walk two moons, by Sharon Creech
Here is a picture of one of my favorite picture books:
Where the wild things are, by Maurice Sendak
Click here for an example of how a table can help format your page: MCBA Page How to edit text:
Whether or not you are going to use a table to work in, you will want to manipulate the SIZE COLOR and FORM of your text so that it doesn't look like this!
Click on the STYLE TEXT box at the top and a number of options come up. Here you can change:
the FONT, the SIZE,
the TEXT COLOR,
the BACKGROUND COLOR,
And------------------------------------------------------------------------- the ALIGNMENT.
This is how to do it: Write what you want first and then HIGHLIGHT IT
The box of editing choices will appear, with a preview at the bottom of what your text will look like. Play around a little with your choices.
WARNING: This is one of the areas of wikispaces that can drive you nuts. You'll get the formatting just right, then save your document, and it won't look like how you set it. Or go back into edit mode to tweak something and the formatting you did before won't be there. And the color-box is REALLY user-frustrating. They recently changed it from nice clear boxes to this drifting box of color. I mostly love wikispaces as but this drives me crazy.
Okay, now you are ready to add pictures, video and more!
